Chun Hsiung Chen (陳俊雄) was born in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China, on March 7, 1937. He received the B.S.E.E. degree from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 1960, the M.S.E.E. degree from National Chiao-Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1962, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from National Taiwan University in 1972.

Professor Chen joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Taiwan University and served as an Instructor (1963-68), an Associate Professor (1968-72), a Professor (1972-), and Chairman of the Department (1982-85). He was the Director of University Computer Center (1992-96). He visited the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California, Berkeley (1974), the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Houston, TX (1986), the Microwave Department of the Technical University of Munich, Germany (1989), Laboratoire d'Optique Electromagnetique, Faculte des Sciences et Techniques de Saint-Jerome, Universite d'Aix-Marseille III, France (1990), and the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Michigan State University, Michigan (1994).

He is a Fellow of IEEE (1996-) and a Member of Phi Tau Phi Scholastic Honor Society of Republic of China (1964). He has been a National Official Member of URSI-Commission B (1979-97), a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Chinese Institute of Engineers (1981-87), an Associate Editor of the Proceedings of the National Science Council (1984-91), a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Electrical Engineering of the Institute of Electrical Engineering (1985-90), the Editor-in-chief of the Bulletin of the College of Engineering, National Taiwan University (1987-89), and an Associate Editor of the Journal of the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineering (1993-1996). He has also served as a Technical Reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, IEEE Microwave and Wireless Components Letters, Journal of Electromagnetic Waves and Applications, and IET Microwaves, Antennas & Propagation.

He received the Best Paper Award in Engineering from the Chinese Institute of Engineers (1979), the Academic Achievement Award in Engineering from the Ministry of Education (1980), the Distinguished Research Award from the Ministry of Education (1983-84), the Distinguished Research Award from the National Science Council (1985-86, 1987-88, 1989-90, 1991-92, 1993-94), the China Foundation Fellowship Award from the National Science Council (1989-90), the Outstanding Scholar Award from the Foundation for the Advancement of Outstanding Scholarship (1995-1998), the Outstanding Research Award from the Pan Wen-Yuan Foundation (1998), and the Best Paper Award from 2001 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (2001). He is the Chair Professors of Ministry of Education (1998-2001) and National Taiwan University (2002-2004,2006-2008).
